Walden Pond: A great day trip from Boston

Due to Thoreau’s relationship with the location, the reservation was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1962.

Just north of the pond you will find a series of granite posts which mark the location where Thoreau’s’ cabin once stood.

In addition to being a popular swimming destination in the summer, Walden Pond State Reservation provides opportunities for boating, , hiking, picnicking, and fishing.
